Israel Intensifies Attacks Against Lebanon and Escalates the Conflict

In recent hours, more than 50 Israeli air strikes have been recorded against various areas of southern Lebanon.
Tension on the Israeli-Lebanese border reaches new heights with a series of Israeli air strikes in the south of the country. The Israeli occupation forces announced the start of a military operation in the region with squadrons of F-35 fighter aircraft heading north to Lebanon.

In recent hours, more than 50 Israeli air strikes have been recorded against various areas of southern Lebanon, including Mahmudia, Al Aishiya, the Rihan Heights and the Barghaz River. Of these, 36 were concentrated in the Mahmudia forest area. The IDF claims to have attacked «30 Hizbullah launchers containing approximately 150 barrels of fuel», according to Lebanese media.
Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant has declared that Israel has entered a new phase of the war, pointing to Hezbollah as its main target. Israeli media report that the army plans to triple its attacks on Lebanon daily.
Prior to the air strike, Hezbollah secretary general Hassan Nasrallah warned Israel against a ground operation in southern Lebanon during his speech on 19 September. Nasrallah promised a «fair» response to the attacks attributed to Israeli intelligence in recent days.
Addressing directly the Israeli leaders, Nasrallah said: «I tell Netanyahu and Gallant: you cannot return [settlers] to the north, and this is the challenge between us». He added that the only way to do so is to stop the aggression on Gaza and nothing else will help achieve it, neither military escalation nor anything else. Rather, what they will do is increase the displacement of these people».
Recordings confirm the overflight of Israeli drones over Lebanese villages, broadcasting audio messages with incitements against the resistance in southern Lebanon.
This escalation of hostilities marks a turning point in the conflict, with both sides raising the tone of their military threats and actions, generating concern about a possible expansion of the conflict into the region.
