Recent military actions by Israel in Syria have raised significant concerns regarding violations of Syrian sovereignty and the ongoing policy of occupation and aggression by the Israeli state.
On Thursday, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) conducted an aggressive military incursion into the Syrian towns of Ruwayhina and Umm Batinah, located in the central Quneitra region. Utilizing tanks and infantry units, Israeli forces raided several homes, confiscated weapons, and destroyed a Syrian military installation in Al-Ajraf.

These actions not only violate Syria’s sovereignty but also reflect a continued pattern of occupation and aggression by Israel. One justification used by the occupying forces was to “prevent Syrian weapons from falling into terrorist hands,” a statement that contrasts sharply with their offensives and incursions into civilian border areas.
Despite military pressure, residents of the region refused to evacuate their villages following an extended meeting with occupying forces that lasted over 10 hours. During this encounter, an agreement was reached to construct a new road west of the village of Kudna, which would allow for transit without interfering with the daily lives of the inhabitants. However, this agreement appears to be another superficial attempt by Israel to legitimize its military presence in the area while continuing to destabilize the local population.
Additionally, reports indicate that Israeli troops forced residents of Rasm al-Rawadi to evacuate, further demonstrating a disregard for human rights and the dignity of the Syrian people. Local sources and international organizations have condemned Israeli actions as obstructing vital peacekeeping efforts in the occupied Golan Heights.
The office of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced that the IDF will temporarily control the buffer zone along the border with Syria until a “force” capable of ensuring compliance with the demilitarized agreement signed in 1974 is established. In an official statement, Netanyahu asserted: “Israel will not allow jihadist groups to fill this vacuum.” However, this declaration is seen as a clear attempt to justify prolonged occupation and military intervention that only perpetuates the suffering of the Syrian people.
The international community must condemn these aggressive actions and firmly support both the Syrian and Palestinian peoples in their struggle for self-determination and respect for their fundamental rights. The situation remains tense in the region, where geopolitical conflicts continue to affect thousands of innocent civilians. It is imperative that the voices of those oppressed by occupation are heard and that efforts are made toward a just and lasting solution for all affected by this crisis.
