The Israel Air Force bombed the headquarters of the Islamic Republic Broadcasting Corporation (IRIB) in the Evin district, north of Tehran, in a new wave of attacks that extended for the third consecutive day the joint offensive of the United States and Israel against Iran.

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) reported on March, 2 that they destroyed the headquarters of the Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting (IRIB) in a recent airstrike in Tehran. The building, which had previously been targeted during the June 2015 war, was hit by dozens of bombs dropped by Israeli Air Force fighter jets, the Israeli military confirmed in an official statement.

The zionist military report allegued that the communications center served to “promote military activities under the guise of civilian activities and assets, in addition to the propaganda activities emanating from the communications center”, justifying this new attack.

Prior to the bombing, the Israel Defense Forces issued an evacuation warning to Iranian civilians in the area and shared a map that delimited the designated target area. Meanwhile the Iranian state broadcaster had previously announced that its headquarters in the capital was under attack.

The Israeli military confirmed the attacks on Iranian state television in Tehran, which were carried out under the direction of Israeli intelligence.

This is not the first time that Iranian radio and television facilities have been targeted by Israeli aviation. During the so-called Twelve Days’ War, in June 2025, Israeli missiles hit IRIB Headquarters and killed three journalists, according to verified reports. The headquarters, a three-story glazed building with an inner courtyard, was destroyed in that attack and was later rebuilt.

The new attack on IRIB came as part of an escalation that began on Saturday, February 28 with massive U.S. and Israeli bombing raids on Iranian military, energy, and government infrastructure, following the confirmed death of Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei.

The joint U.S.-Israeli airstrikes have killed at least 555 people, according to figures provided by the Red Crescent.
