Israel Massively Bombs Beirut’s Suburbs

Since early Tuesday morning, the Army has been conducting a series of ground incursions in southern Lebanon, which adds to the intense bombing campaign against the country that began more than ten days ago, and which so far has resulted in over 2,000 deaths in Lebanon and about 1.2 million displaced persons.

The Israeli military issued a new evacuation order for three buildings in Dahiyeh in southern Beirut, saying civilians should leave the buildings “and those adjacent to them immediately and stay away from them for a distance of no less than 500 meters”.

A Qatari media outlet Al Jazeera’s correspondent reported that after the evacuation order an Israeli air attack hit the area in Burj al-Barajneh, a municipality located in the southern suburbs of Beirut.

Al Jazeera’s journalist reported an extremely powerful explosion with at least two, possibly three, strikes witnessed in the past few minutes. She said flames have reached high into the sky, and the sound has reverberated throughout Beirut.

This information was confirmed by the National News Agency of Lebanon (NNA), which reported that Israeli warplanes conducted four “very violent” airstrikes on the southern suburbs of the Lebanese capital.

Additionally, Israel carried out an air attack on the Choueifat area, in the hills southeast of Beirut, above the city’s southern suburbs. Plumes of smoke were visible over the targeted areas.
