WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said that “there really is no safe corner in Gaza”.

The Israeli army orders all Palestinian civilians to leave Gaza City while attacking the UNRWA headquarters, one day after at least 27 people were killed and 53 injured in an Israeli attack on a school housing displaced civilians in Khan Younis.

For all those present in Gaza City, security corridors allow them to travel quickly and without inspection from Gaza City to shelters in Deir el-Balah and Al Zawiya. Gaza City remains a dangerous fighting zone,” the text says.

Israel had already issued an evacuation order for part of the city on 27 June.

However, the occupying forces have repeatedly shelled areas previously designated as shelters. Therefore, the UN has warned that «there is no safe place» in the Gaza Strip.

He also warned that this insecurity is reinforced by a context of growing health crisis in the area devastated by the war.

WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said reports of evacuation orders will further impede the delivery of very limited life-saving care.

The aid group MĂ©decins Sans Frontières (MSF) has warned of a “critical” shortage of medical supplies in Gaza, without resupply for more than two months as the Israeli war continues.

“MSF faces a critical shortage of many things like gauze, gloves… things like that,” said pediatrician Amber Alayyan.

The aid group warned last week in a statement that it had been unable to bring any medical supplies to Gaza since late April and called on Israel to open more crossing points into the territory.

“We are seeing people injured in bombings, shootings and drone strikes,” Alayyan said.

“MSF staff have switched to changing wound dressings every four days instead of the usual two to save on supplies,” he added.

MSF now runs the risk of running out of vital medications such as anesthetics needed for surgeries.

“If we keep going like this… we won’t be able to operate. We won’t operate without anesthesia,” Alayyan said.
