Israel today partially reopened the Rafah crossing between the Gaza Strip and Egypt, allowing wounded Palestinians to exit for medical treatment amidst ongoing Zionist assaults following nearly three weeks of closure.
Israel on March 19 partially reopened the Rafah crossing between the Gaza Strip and Egypt, allowing a limited number of wounded Palestinians to exit for medical treatment amid ongoing Israeli assaults in the besieged enclave.
This critical development follows nearly three weeks of complete closure, which had severely exacerbated the already dire humanitarian crisis within Gaza.

According to reports from the Palestinian Red Crescent, only eight patients and 17 accompanying family members managed to depart the Gaza Strip through this vital border point. The departure was executed under stringent restrictions imposed by Israeli forces, highlighting the precarious nature of humanitarian access and the continued control exercised over the movement of Palestinians.
The closure of the Rafah crossing since May 2024 had been part of a broader and more severe blockade imposed on Gaza, effectively preventing thousands of Palestinians from accessing essential medical care outside the territory.
The recent partial reopening was achieved after intensive negotiations and diplomatic discussions held in Cairo, underscoring the international pressure brought to bear on Israel to facilitate humanitarian relief. The protracted closure had denied critical care to countless individuals suffering from injuries and chronic illnesses, pushing Gaza’s overwhelmed health system to the brink of collapse.
Israel’s Attacks Ongoing
Despite the limited humanitarian gesture at Rafah, Israeli forces have maintained their relentless bombardment campaigns across the enclave. Only on Thursday, these attacks resulted in the deaths of at least four Palestinians and left several others wounded, further adding to the mounting civilian toll.
The Gaza Ministry of Health has reported a staggering figure of approximately 680 Palestinians who have lost their lives since the ceasefire came into effect on October 11, underscoring the continuous violence despite nominal agreements.
The ongoing military operations in Gaza are not isolated incidents but are part of a wider pattern of Israeli military actions extending across the region. Concurrently, Israel continues to conduct military operations in Lebanon and has targeted objectives within the Islamic Republic of Iran. This broader engagement highlights an escalating regional conflict dynamic, with Gaza remaining at the epicenter of a complex geopolitical landscape.
The persistence of these wider military activities casts a long shadow over any limited humanitarian efforts, suggesting a continued strategy of regional destabilization.
The international community, while facilitating negotiations for humanitarian access, has also expressed grave concerns over the escalating violence and its potential to engulf the entire Middle East in further conflict.
