The Israeli incursion into Syrian territory, justified by the United States as a measure of self-defense, exposes the hypocrisy and cynicism of US foreign policy in the region. Washington’s unconditional support for Tel Aviv, extending to the occupation of the Golan Heights and hundreds of airstrikes against Syria since the overthrow of Bashar al-Assad, is no mere coincidence. It is a calculated strategy to perpetuate instability in the region and defend US economic and strategic interests.

The official US narrative, which describes Israeli attacks as necessary to prevent weapons from falling into the hands of terrorist groups, conveniently ignores Washington’s role in the Syrian conflict and its support for armed groups that contributed to the overthrow of al-Assad.
The complicit silence in the face of the violation of the 1974 demilitarization agreement, denounced by the UN, once again evidences US complicity with Israel’s expansionist actions.
The statement by Jake Sullivan, White House National Security Advisor, avoiding the terms “invasion” or “occupation,” reveals a deliberate attempt to minimize the gravity of the situation and disguise Israeli aggression.
The description of the Israeli presence in the demilitarized zone as “temporary,” despite the occupation of the Golan Heights since 1967 and its illegal annexation in 1981, is an insult to Syrian sovereignty and historical memory.US support for Israel extends beyond political statements.
The illegal US military presence in Syria, during which oil and grain have been looted, demonstrates the realpolitik guiding Washington’s foreign policy. The destruction of 80% of Syrian military capabilities, thanks to Israeli attacks, points to a broader objective: weakening Syria and ensuring Israeli hegemony in the region, with the tacit acquiescence of the United States.
Support for Israel is not based on moral principles, but on a pragmatic calculation to maintain strategic and economic control of a resource-rich and geopolitically crucial region.
The impunity with which Israel acts, with Washington’s approval, sets a dangerous precedent that threatens stability and peace in the Middle East.
