At least nine Palestinians, among them two children, lost their lives on Tuesday following an Israeli airstrike targeting a residential building in Khan Younis, located in the southern Gaza Strip.
The attack is part of a renewed Israeli offensive that began on March 18, breaking a ceasefire agreement established in January with Hamas.
According to reports from the Palestinian daily Filastin, the airstrike in Khan Younis was one of several incidents. Additional bombings in northeastern Rafah and a refugee tent in Jabalia resulted in three more fatalities.
The Israeli military has yet to issue a statement regarding these operations.
The humanitarian toll continues to escalate. Gaza authorities, under Hamas control, reported on Monday that the death toll has reached approximately 51,250, with around 117,000 injured since the offensive began. This includes 1,864 deaths and 4,890 injuries recorded since the resumption of Israeli attacks.
Journalists from WAFA detailed that Israeli warplanes targeted a house belonging to the Baraka family in Bani Suhaila, east of Khan Younis, killing four civilians and injuring many others. Another airstrike on makeshift shops sheltering displaced families near Al-Jazeera Club in central Gaza claimed four more lives. Additionally, one civilian was killed in an airstrike on Salah al-Din Street in central Gaza.
The renewed violence follows the collapse of the January truce, which had been disrupted by Israeli military actions in response to attacks dating back to October 7, 2023. As the conflict intensifies, the civilian population in Gaza continues to bear the brunt of the violence, with calls for accountability and an immediate cessation of hostilities growing louder.
