Gaza Strip: Israel Bombs Homes and School

On Sunday night, numerous Palestinians lost their lives and others were injured in a series of Israeli airstrikes across the northern Gaza Strip. The attacks targeted two schools in Jabalia, where internally displaced people had sought refuge.

Local sources reported that Israeli artillery struck the UNRWA-operated Hafsa School in the Jabalia refugee camp, leading to significant casualties among those sheltering inside. In a related incident, the Abu Hussein School in the same camp also suffered bombings, causing further fatalities and injuries.

Efforts to save lives were hampered as civil defense teams were prevented from accessing the affected areas to assist those trapped or injured.

Fires ignited by the strikes engulfed the Hamad School, which provided shelter near the Indonesian Hospital in northern Gaza, posing a severe risk to both the school and the hospital’s generators.

Additional airstrikes in the northern Gaza locations of the al-Fakhura area and Al-Hattab Street in Beit Lahia resulted in further deaths. Meanwhile, in the al-Tuffah neighborhood of Gaza City, civilians were targeted, leading to more casualties.

Moreover, three civilians in Deir al-Balah were killed in an Israeli drone strike on a vehicle.

Since the escalation of Israeli actions against the Palestinian people starting October 7, 2023, a devastating toll of approximately 42,603 civilians have died, with 99,795 others injured, predominantly women and children. Many remain missing under the rubble or scattered on the streets.
