The Jerusalem District Court rejected on Wednesday the request from Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s legal team to postpone the date for his testimony, which is scheduled for December 2.
This case has been ongoing for more than four years. Yeshudit Tirosh, a representative of the Prosecutor’s Office, stated that the prime minister should not be allowed to “dictate the calendar” of his trial, noting that the date had already been postponed previously when a delay until March 2025 was requested under the pretext of preparing his statement.
Netanyahu’s defense, led by Amit Hadad, argued that the prime minister cannot adequately prepare his testimony due to his focus on national demands amid the ongoing conflicts in Gaza and Lebanon.
Hadad remarked, “Netanyahu is managing the whole war, and there are weeks when we can’t meet him. How can you ignore this? Do we not want a prime minister whose head is completely focused on managing the war?”
Hadad was unable to convince Judge Rivka Friedman-Feldman that Netanyahu would be available by the proposed March 2025 date. He also highlighted that the courtroom in occupied Jerusalem lacks a bomb shelter, raising safety concerns for the Israeli prime minister.

The Jerusalem court’s decision marks a significant step in this protracted judicial process.
