On Friday, an Israeli drone strike in the town of Tayr Debba, located about 20 kilometers south of the Israeli border, resulted in at least five deaths and four injuries, according to the Emergency Operations Room of the Lebanese Ministry of Public Health.

This incident comes in a delicate context, just over two weeks before the expiration of a 60-day ceasefire agreement with the Shia Hezbollah group.

The attack, which was specifically directed at a car driving through Tayr Debba, took place in an area near the coastal town of Tyre. The wounded were quickly taken to hospitals in Tyre by an ambulance team that arrived at the site of the bombing.

The IDF confirmed that the target of the attack was alleged Hezbollah operatives who, according to their statements, were carrying weapons in a truck.

The ceasefire agreement, which came into effect on November 27, was designed to de-escalate violence in the region. It provides for the withdrawal of Hezbollah from a strip between the Litani River and the border with Israel, as well as an increase in the presence of the Lebanese Army to ensure that no non-state entity is armed in that area.

However, progress toward the implementation of this agreement has been limited and is far from being achieved.

The situation remains tense, with a massive Israeli bombing campaign in Lebanon beginning in September and having subsided with the implementation of the ceasefire.

As the deadline for the agreement approaches, hostilities could reignite, raising concerns about stability in the region.
