Five journalists from the Al Quds television channel lost their lives when Israel bombed their transmission vehicle outside Al-Awda Hospital in Nuseirat, located in central Gaza.
With their deaths, the number of journalists killed in Gaza during the ongoing Israeli offensive has reached 201, according to the Palestinian Government Media Office in Gaza. They were identified as Faisal Abu al-Qumsan, Ayman al-Jadi, Ibrahim al-Sheij Ali, Muhammad al-Ladah, and Fadi Hassouni.
The Wafa news agency reported that Israeli forces killed five Palestinians and injured 20 others in an airstrike on a home in the Zeitoun neighborhood of Gaza City.
In Gaza City’s Sabra neighborhood, ten people were killed in Israeli attacks, including eight who died in an airstrike on the home of a family identified as Dahsan. Civil defense teams have so far recovered five bodies from the rubble of the house. Further north, in the town of Jabalia—under Israeli siege since October 6—two more people were killed in another airstrike on a residential building.
These latest airstrikes follow others carried out by Israel the previous day, which killed 23 Palestinians. This brings the total death toll to 45,361 since the war began on October 7, 2023, according to the latest figures from Gaza’s Ministry of Health.
The situation in Gaza is catastrophic, with thousands of Palestinians facing starvation in the besieged northern part of the enclave. On Monday, the Famine Early Warning Systems Network (FEWS NET) confirmed that famine conditions are now occurring in northern Gaza due to Israel’s near-total blockade of food supplies.
Increasingly, international organizations and humanitarian groups are labeling the continuation of the Israeli war in Gaza as genocide. On Dec. 5, Amnesty International concluded that Israel “has committed and continues to commit genocide against Palestinians in the occupied Gaza Strip.”
