The Israeli army continues its large-scale military operation, dubbed “Iron Wall,” in the Jenin refugee camp and other areas in the northern West Bank, marking the 17th consecutive day of assaults. According to the official Palestinian news agency Wafa, the offensive has resulted in at least 29 deaths so far.
Escalation of Military Raids
The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) reported that troops from the 828th Brigade have conducted counterterrorism operations in Tammun and Faraa refugee camp (Tubas Governorate) in the Jordan Valley, leading to the arrest of over 25 individuals.
The operation, which began on January 21, has gradually expanded to include the cities of Tulkarem and Tammun, with additional incursions in Nablus, where soldiers discovered an explosives lab and detained two individuals.
Jenin Refugee Camp in Ruins
The Jenin refugee camp, the epicenter of the crackdown, has suffered massive destruction, with 180 homes demolished by Israeli forces.
- UNRWA spokesperson Juliette Touma confirmed that all 15,000 remaining residents of the camp have now fled due to the offensive.
- The Palestinian Red Crescent reported successfully evacuating an 80-year-old man who was trapped inside.
- Israeli troops have bulldozed roads leading to Jenin’s government hospital, cutting off access to essential medical care. The city’s municipality has been attempting to deliver water to the hospital using tractors, as Israeli forces have destroyed the hospital’s water tanks.
Military Expansion in Tulkarem and Tubas
The military raid in Tulkarem and its two refugee camps (Tulkarem and Nur Shams) entered its 11th day:
- Israeli forces have deployed additional infantry troops from the Tsna Oz military base, occupying residential buildings and turning them into military outposts.
- Snipers have been positioned inside Al-Adawiya Girls’ School, located near Tulkarem’s government hospital.
Meanwhile, in Tubas, where the incursion has lasted five days, the town of Tammun and the Faraa refugee camp have been completely sealed off by Israeli forces.
- In the past two days, the military carried out drone strikes in Tammun, though no casualties were reported.
- Palestinian media outlets claim that the army imposed a curfew on the city, although Israeli forces have yet to confirm this.
Mounting Palestinian Death Toll
Since the Hamas-led attacks on Israel on October 7, the Israeli army has intensified its military raids across the occupied West Bank. Over 800 Palestinians—including more than 168 children—have been killed in violent incidents with Israeli forces, the majority due to military fire, while some were killed by settlers.
The military escalation continues to devastate Palestinian communities, with mass displacement, home demolitions, and critical shortages of water, medical supplies, and electricity.
