Despite a legally binding order from the International Court of Justice (ICJ) instructing Israel to cease its military actions in Rafah, Israel has continued its aggressive campaign in the region.

Since October 7, Israel’s military operations have resulted in the deaths of at least 42,718 Palestinians and left over 100,282 others injured. Additionally, around 10,000 individuals remain unaccounted for, feared dead under the rubble of collapsed structures across Gaza.

According to Palestinian and international organizations, a significant portion of those affected are women and children. The ongoing conflict has also led to the forced displacement of nearly two million people from various areas within Gaza.

Most of these displaced individuals have sought refuge in the overcrowded southern city of Rafah near the Egyptian border, marking one of the largest mass displacements in Palestine since the 1948 Nakba.
