The Constitutional Court of the Republic of Korea initiated judicial proceedings to assess the dismissal of President Yoon Suk-yeol. This event follows Parliament’s decision to impeach him after its failed declaration of martial law.
The news, reported by Yonhap agency, details how the chairman of the National Assembly’s Legislative and Judicial Committee, Jung Chung-rae, officially presented the impeachment resolution to the court at 6:15 PM local time. Shortly after, at 7:24 PM, Yoon was suspended from his duties.

Moon Hyung-bae, the acting head of the Constitutional Court, has assured that a “quick and fair” trial will be held, underlining the importance of this case not only for Yoon but also for the country’s democratic system.
The court also decided to appoint two judges to oversee the analysis of evidence and create a legal review team to ensure a transparent and rigorous process.
The expectation now rests on the Constitutional Court, whose resolution will not only impact the immediate future of Yoon Suk-yeol but also set precedents for the balance of power between the executive and legislative branches in South Korea.
