Kamala Harris Wins Enough Delegate Votes to Secure Democratic Nomination

She exceeded the threshold of the 1,976 delegates necessary to be confirmed as a party nominated.
On Friday, the American vice president Kamala Harris obtained the votes of delegates necessary to become mathematically the nominee of the Democratic Party for the November presidential elections.

Harris exceeded the threshold of the 1,976 delegates necessary to be confirmed as a party nominated this Sunday, although the virtual vote of compromisearies will officially end until Monday.
“I am so proud to confirm that Vice President Harris has earned more than a majority of votes from all convention delegates and will be the nominee of Democratic Party following the close of voting on Monday,” said Jaime Harrison, the president of the National Democratic Committee ( DNC).
Later, Harris thanked the confidence that the Democratic Party deposited in her nomination and claimed to feel good to have been chosen to replace Joe Biden in the presidential race.
“It is an honor for me to be the Democratic candidate for the presidency of the United States. I will officially accept the nomination next week,” the U.S. Vice President said.
The DNC gave until Tuesday for another candidacies to be presented, but finally Harris was the only candidate for the Democratic nomination. On Monday, her nomination will be official and it will be staged in the National Democratic Convention that begins on August 19 in Chicago (Illinois).
The 59-year-old politician must announce her candidate for vice president. She is the first black woman and with Indian roots nominated as a candidate for the U.S. presidency.
