Kenyan President Dismisses Nearly All Ministers

The president of Kenya, William Ruto, dismissed on Thursday almost all the ministers of his cabinet, after the protests of recent weeks due to high taxes.

The president assured to form a new agile and efficient government, through a televised speech.
On the other hand, he indicated that the new portfolio would help him “to accelerate and expedite the necessary, urgent and irreversible implementation of radical programs to deal with the debt burden, raise domestic resources, expand employment opportunities, eliminate waste and unnecessary duplication of a multiplicity of government agencies and kill the dragon of corruption”.
Among the officials who had to leave power was the prosecutor general. Meanwhile, he indicated that the ministries will be led by their permanent secretaries.
Protesters stormed Parliament on 25 June, following the passage of a finance bill proposing tax increases.
They accused the cabinet of incompetence, arrogance and ostentatious opulence, while Kenyans struggle with high taxes and a crisis in the cost of living.
More than 30 people died in the protests, at the hands of the same police that participates in the international military intervention in Haiti, which has transformed them into demands for the resignation of the president.
