The Lebanese Resistance Movement (Hezbollah) asserted this Thursday that the urgent end of the 60-day deadline for the withdrawal of Israeli forces requires full and complete observance of what was agreed upon in the ceasefire pact of last November.

Likewise, in a statement, they referred to reports suggesting a possible delay in Israel’s retreat, urging the Government of Lebanon and the international backers of the agreement to proceed firmly in the final days of the deadline.

“We must guarantee the implementation of the complete withdrawal and the deployment of the Lebanese army throughout the national territory, as well as the swift return of residents to their villages, and not allow any pretext or excuse to prolong the occupation,” Hezbollah added.

They also added that “any delay beyond the 60 days is a blatant violation of the agreement, an assault on Lebanese sovereignty, and a new chapter of occupation,” persuading the Lebanese state to implement legal and international resources to recover the territory.

“Although we will follow the evolution of the situation, which is supposed to culminate in the coming days with the complete withdrawal, any breach of the agreement and commitments, and any attempt to evade them under flimsy titles, will not be acceptable,” the movement indicated.

As stipulated in the ceasefire agreement that came into force on November 27, the 60-day deadline for the withdrawal of Israeli occupying forces from southern Lebanon expires next Sunday.

However, sources reported that Israel requested a 30-day extension from the United States for the withdrawal of its army.
