Lebanese authorities have filed a complaint with the UN Security Council, accusing Israel of carrying out deliberate attacks on rescue centers and ambulances in various areas of the country, according to the Lebanese Foreign Ministry.
The statement from the Lebanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs indicates that its permanent mission in New York has been ordered to submit this complaint due to repeated Israeli attacks on Lebanese civil defense personnel, facilities, and means of transport since October 8, 2023.
Additionally, the complaint emphasizes that “Israeli attacks on rescue personnel while they are performing their humanitarian duties hinder the evacuation of the population from hazardous areas and the care of the wounded, thereby increasing the risk to civilian lives.”
According to a report from the Lebanese Department of Foreign Policy, 27 rescuers have been killed and 76 wounded in these attacks. Furthermore, 32 medical centers have been reported as partially or totally destroyed, and 45 rescue vehicles have been damaged.
