Also, the chairman of the legislature, Nabih Berri, said that his country has reason to hope, but nothing is certain with the Israeli prime minister, Benjamin Netanyahu”.

The day before, the Hebrew newspaper Yediot Aharonot reported that Israel had previously agreed to a possible solution with Lebanon, proposed by the United States (USA), although there are still outstanding issues on the agenda.

For their part, US authorities have stated that the talks between Israel and Hezbollah to achieve a ceasefire in Lebanon are developing in a very positive direction, although no agreements have yet been reached.

The US National Security Council spokesman, John Kirby, said they believe they have “reached a point where we are close,” in relation to a possible ceasefire in Lebanon.

«I can tell you that the discussions we had were constructive and we believe they are going in a very positive direction», said Kirby.

«But nothing is closed until everything is negotiated. We have to keep working so that we can achieve the ceasefire we’ve been working on for so long, and with so much effort,» he added.

For his part, the Israeli ambassador to the United Nations (UN), Danny Danon, confirmed to the Security Council that there are advanced negotiations for a ceasefire in Lebanon.

«We are moving towards a ceasefire in Lebanon” said Danon.
