Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva stated this Saturday that he is “100% cured in the head” after undergoing a new series of medical exams to check the evolution of the intracranial hemorrhage that required him to have surgery in December.

“Lulinha is 100% cured in the head. A new and clean head,” assured the progressive leader at an event in the city of Rio de Janeiro for the 45th anniversary of the Workers’ Party (PT), which Lula himself has led since its founding.

The 79-year-old president acknowledged that he went through “the most delicate moment of his life” when an intracranial hemorrhage was detected as a result of a serious fall he had last October in the bathroom of his home, during which he injured the back of his head.

“The doctors told me I could have gone into a coma, that I could have died,” he recounted.

Lula underwent emergency surgery in São Paulo to drain the hemorrhage identified in his head and spent several days recovering in the intensive care unit, although he did not suffer any neurological sequelae, according to his medical team.

This Saturday, he said that the new medical tests conducted this week show that he is completely cured.

“I think it is very difficult for a 40-year-old to have the health I have now,” and “I want to tell all those who say they can destroy the PT that I am more alive and stronger than ever,” Lula warned, dressed in a red shirt.
