“On the right, now only one surname and one person who lives in Colombia, among paramilitaries and drug traffickers, makes decisions,” the Bolivarian leader stated.
“She is known as the queen of paramilitaries, terrorists, and drug traffickers. She fled and settled there… Currently, she has resources at her disposal to hire mercenaries to assault political power in Venezuela,” he added.
During the closing event of the Historical Bloc Congress, Maduro also asserted that intelligence reports indicate Machado is receiving funding from drug trafficking and paramilitary groups to execute her plans of aggression against the Bolivarian Revolution.
Previously, investigations conducted by Venezuelan authorities determined the responsibility of Maria Corina Machado and Edmundo Gonzalez in the post-electoral violence that occurred on July 29 and 30.
When the results of the presidential elections were announced, which re-elected Nicolas Maduro as Venezuela’s president, those opposition politicians instructed far-right cells called “Small Commands” (Comanditos) to carry out violent acts that left 27 people dead and 190 injured.
Recently, authorities also reported the arrest of a group of mercenaries who attempted to smuggle hundreds of assault rifles and other weapons into Venezuela. Conceived with the support of the CIA and the DEA, this failed terrorist operation involved Machado, who is seeking to generate chaos and destabilization in the South American country.
