This call between the two executives comes at a time of diplomatic tension since Macron called for Israel to stop supplying weapons to Israel on Saturday, something that angered Netanyahu.

“The President of the Republic has expressed to the Prime Minister (Netanyahu) his conviction that the time for a ceasefire has come. The supply of arms, the prolongation of the war in Gaza and its extension to Lebanon can be counterproductive for Israeli security itself,” the French presidency said in a statement.

The statement of the executive said that both spoke “with total frankness and due respect for the friendship between France and Israel”, although noting “different points of view” from “the willingness to try to understand the position of the other”.

“The deliveries of arms, the prolongation of the war in Gaza and its extension to Lebanon cannot produce the security expected by the Israelis and all in the region. The decisive effort must be made without delay to develop the political solutions necessary for the security of Israel and all in the Middle East,” said the Eliseo’s statement.
