Information provided by the French presidency was sparse and did not offer details about the duration or specific aspects of the conversation between Donald Trump, Volodymyr Zelensky, Emmanuel Macron, and Keir Starmer.
The conversation took place after Trump and Zelensky held a bilateral meeting earlier that morning at Saint Peter’s Basilica in Vatican City before the funeral of Pope Francis began.
This meeting lasted about 15 minutes, and both leaders agreed to continue discussions later today, said Sergii Nykyforov, spokesperson for the Ukrainian presidency, who added that both presidents’ teams are working to arrange another meeting today.
On Friday, the Elysee Palace had announced that, due to the mourning period at the Vatican, Macron would not participate in diplomatic meetings during the funerals for Pope Francis.
