Furthermore, the poll highlighted that 52 percent of participants believe that the precision and progress of the agreement were influenced by the new U.S. president, Donald Trump.
Renewed Hopes for Peace in Gaza
On Sunday, January 19, with the implementation of a ceasefire agreement in the Gaza Strip, hopes have been renewed for an end to Israel’s 15-month-long military offensive against the Palestinian territory.
The Israeli offensive has resulted in tens of thousands of deaths, injuries, disappearances, and detentions, while also displacing a significant portion of the coastal area’s population.
Implications of the Agreement
The prisoner exchange deal marks a crucial step toward reducing tensions in the region and addressing the humanitarian crisis in Gaza. Observers believe that international pressure, coupled with U.S. diplomatic efforts, has played a pivotal role in moving the process forward. However, challenges remain in ensuring the agreement’s successful implementation and fostering long-term peace between the two sides.
