Martinez-Mottola made a statement regarding destabilizing acts organized by the far-right opposition after the July elections.
On Friday, Attorney General Tarek William Saab confirmed that Fernando Martinez-Mottola, a far-right activist who had been residing in the Argentine Embassy in Caracas, surrendered to Venezuelan authorities yesterday.
Martinez-Mottola is the latest opponent to speak out against María Corina Machado’s strategy and decide not to continue being part of the violent plan to seize power.

“The citizen turned himself in and gave a statement at the Prosecutor’s Office regarding the serious violent, conspiratorial, and destabilizing acts organized from that diplomatic headquarters in recent months, following the presidential elections held on July 28,” the Attorney General stated.
“It is important to highlight that Martinez-Mottola decided to actively cooperate with Venezuelan justice within the framework of due process established in Article 49 of the Constitution.”
“The Public Ministry, as the lead entity in criminal investigations, remains steadfast in its duty to ensure justice and its fight against any group or entity, whether national or international, acting outside the law and threatening the peace of the Venezuelan nation,” Saab emphasized.
Martinez-Mottola was one of six far-right opposition members who sought refuge in the Argentine Embassy after participating in activities aimed at political destabilization.
He was an advisor to the opposition alliance Democratic Unity Platform (PUD), which refuses to recognize Nicolas Maduro’s reelection as Venezuelan president and claims victory for its candidate, Edmundo Gonzalez, in the July 28 elections.
In his actions against Venezuela’s democratic institutions, Martinez-Mottola also served as head of the delegation of the self-proclaimed Juan Guaido in Oslo, Norway.
According to press reports, the Argentine Embassy continues to shelter Pedro Urruchurtu, Magalli Meda, Omar Gonzalez, Claudia Macero, and Humberto Villalobos, who are collaborators of Vente Venezuela, a U.S.-backed organization led by Maria Corina Machado.
