Iran’s new president, Masoud Pezeshkian, took the oath on Tuesday after winning the second round of the presidential election held early on 5 July.

“I will dedicate myself to the service of the people, to the honor of the country, to propagate religion and morality, and in support of truth and justice,” Pezeshkian declared.
He also said that he wanted “constructive and effective interaction with the world based on dignity, wisdom and convenience».
The ceremony began with a speech by the President of the Parliament, Mohamad Baqer Qalibaf, He stressed that the elections in which Pezeshkian was elected were held in a calm atmosphere, which he said was a sign of stability in the country.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by 110 foreign delegations, including leaders, high-ranking officials and special envoys from 88 countries, The Committee also welcomes the Commission’s proposal to extend the European Parliament’s powers to include a number of Member States in the Fifth Framework Programme.

Following the death of President Ebrahim Raisi, Pezeshkian received 53.7 percent of the vote, according to the final results announced by the Interior Ministry.
