Meeting of Finance Ministers Raises a More Sustainable and Resilient Asia-Pacific

The Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Meeting of Finance Ministers from Economies sets out an economic and financial agenda to promote a more sustainable, digital and resilient Asia Pacific region, Peru’s Ministry of Economy and Finance reported this Sunday.

The meeting was extended from last Friday and will conclude on Monday in Lima, under the presidency of the Peruvian Minister of Economy and Finance, José Arista.
The topics discussed at the meeting were carbon pricing and related instruments, sustainable energy transition, financing of sustainable infrastructure, digital financial education, open finance and the financing of hydro-meteorological risks.
The Ministry of Economy and Finance also introduced new activities to ensure that the Finance Ministers Process is a responsive, efficient and beneficial platform for all APEC economies.
In this sense, it included the adoption of a new strategy for its modernization, the preparation of elements for the new road map of this group, and the promotion of the importance of a collaborative space on sustainable finance to promote coordination between the public sector, businesses and international agencies.
On Monday, 21, the centerpiece of the meeting, APEC economies will adopt the Statement of Finance Ministers, which sets out the results achieved in the year and refers to common understandings of economic and financial policy for the region, added the official source.
