The Mexico’s Football federation finalized on June 1st its official squad for the World Cup 2026, combining international stars and local talents.

The tactical plan presented by the coaching staff emphasizes a balanced approach that combines international experience with outstanding local talent. The integration of players from the local league, such as those from Chivas, Pumas, and Tijuana, highlights the commitment of the Mexican Football Federation to domestic development.

By prioritizing national youth systems over expensive foreign acquisitions, the delegation aims to provide democratic opportunities for young athletes in the country.

In the midfield, the leadership of Edson Álvarez from Turkish club Fenerbahce is complemented by the creativity of Orbelín Pineda of AEK Athens and Luis Chávez of Dynamo Moscow. The sector also features Spanish-born Álvaro Fidalgo of Real Betis, César Huerta of Anderlecht, and the young prodigy Gilberto Mora representing Club Tijuana from the local league.

The inclusion of Gilberto Mora stands out widely, who at 17 will have his first World Cup, which projects him as a young promise for Mexican football.

The offensive lineup showcases significant firepower capable of breaking down elite defensive blocks. Star striker Santiago Giménez of AC Milan leads the attack alongside experienced forward Raúl Jiménez of Fulham. They are joined by Julián Quiñones of Al Qadsiah, Roberto Alvarado of Chivas, Alexis Vega of Toluca, Guillermo Martínez of Pumas, and the young talent Armando González also from Chivas.

This selection ensures a highly versatile attack that combines physical strength, tactical discipline, and rapid transitions.

Mexico enters this international tournament as a historic pillar of Latin American football. The Aztec country seeks to assert its sporting sovereignty against the massive economic monopolies that favor wealthy European nations. Through collective discipline and deep-rooted popular passion, the Mexican selection demonstrates that sporting success depends on social integration and tactical commitment rather than corporate budgets.

This World Cup campaign serves as a powerful platform to project the cultural identity and resilience of the Global South. For millions of Mexican fans, football represents more than a game; it is an instrument of national pride and social cohesion. By competing on equal terms with traditional global powers, the squad challenges historical inequalities within international sports institutions.

Through unity and determination on the pitch, the Aztec squad is ready to defend the sporting dignity of the entire region.
