Mexico Defends Non-Intervention in the Middle East Crisis: President Sheinbaum

The Mexican diplomacy also called on all parties to take immediate actions to de-escalate violence.
On Friday, Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum confirmed that her administration’s position is non-intervention in the disputes between Iran and Israel, as well as in the conflicts between the Lebanese militia Hezbollah and the Israeli Army.

“As always, our position is the pursuit of peace and non-intervention,” she said, adding that her officials are in contact with Mexican citizens currently in Israel and Iran. Foreign Affairs Secretary Juan Ramon de la Fuente is in constant communication with the ambassadors to address any needs of Mexican citizens.
Earlier, on Wednesday, the Sheinbaum administration urged Mexicans living in Israel and Iran to move immediately to safer locations. The Mexican Foreign Ministry also called on all parties involved in the conflicts to “take immediate actions” to de-escalate violence.
In recent days, Israeli bombings in Lebanon have killed over 1,000 people and forced 1 million people to flee their homes in the eastern and southern regions of the country.
On Friday, Brazil postponed its first flight to repatriate a group of nationals from Lebanon due to “the need for additional security measures” following the Israeli offensive in the country.
The Brazilian Foreign Affairs Ministry explained that more security measures are needed for the land convoys heading to Beirut airport, where a KC30 Air Force plane was scheduled to land today to board around 230 Brazilian citizens.
Currently, about 21,000 Brazilians reside in Lebanon, and 3,000 of them have requested assistance from their government to leave the country.
