Mexico Deploys 200 Military In Sinaloa After Criminal Gang Head Arrest

After the arrest of the drug traffickers Ismael ‘el Mayo’ Zambada and Joaquín Guzmán López, son of Joaquín ‘el Chapo’ Guzmán, Some 200 members of the Mexican Army were deployed on Sunday in Culiacán, in the northern Mexican state of Sinaloa, to reinforce security in the area.

“On July 28, 2024,200 soldiers of the Special Forces Corps and the Paratroopers Rifle Brigade of the Mexican Army were deployed in Culiacán, Sinaloa, in order to strengthen the current operational deployment that is maintained in that municipality”, reported the Secretariat of National Defense (SEDENA).
The military is joining another 200 members who were sent on Friday to this entity to ensure security conditions “to preserve and guarantee the freedom, order and public peace of the inhabitants of that region of the country.”
The military entity noted that units of Special Forces and Paratroopers are characterized by their speed, mobility, deployment and reaction capability enabling them to generate and effectively exploit intelligence products with a wide range of weaponry, equipment, aircraft and specialized training.
SEDENA assured that military personnel will act at all times with firmness, performing tasks of deterrence, prevention, patrolling, The Committee also notes that the Commission has not yet taken a decision on the proposal for a Council decision concerning the granting of aid to the United Kingdom.
