The Cuban embassy in Mexico announced on Monday that 199 Cuban doctors will be arriving to work in remote communities. This action is part of an agreement signed between the two nations, which provides for the transfer of a total of 2,700 Cuban doctors to perform similar tasks.

“We received 199 Cuban doctors from 29 specialties at Felipe Angeles International Airport, who will provide support along with their Mexican colleagues in remote communities in 24 states of the country. The solidarity and experience of our doctors are ready to save lives,” shared the Cuban embassy through the social network X.

Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum, who took office in October, has expressed her intention to continue with this agreement. “(We met) with the Cuban Foreign Minister; they know that Cuba is a sister nation, and we talked about the support they are giving us with the Cuban doctors, as well as the possibility of continuing this next year and other important issues in the Mexico-Cuba relationship,” commented Sheinbaum shortly after her election
