The Argentine far-right politician has now become a publicly recognized serial scammer worldwide.
On Monday, Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro harshly criticized the recent cryptocurrency scam involving Argentine President Javier Milei.

“Milei is a serial crypto-scammer and a puppet of global powers, seeking to plunder and destroy Argentina,” the Bolivarian leader said, referring to the “cryptogate” scandal in which the Argentine far-right politician defrauded thousands of people with the cryptocurrency $LIBRA.
Maduro also called Milei a “little monster born from the darkest depths” of Argentina, a country characterized by a rich cultural tradition.
“Milei not only violates human rights in the worst style of former dictator Jorge Videla, attacking the most vulnerable sectors, such as the elderly and retirees, but he has now become a publicly recognized serial scammer worldwide,” he said.
The Venezuelan president is confident that the Argentine people will achieve justice despite Milei and his far-right forces trying to minimize the consequences of the financial scandal.
“They may colonize the state and the judiciary in Argentina, but they will not colonize the conscience of a people,” Maduro affirmed, assuring that even if Argentina’s judicial system does not act against Milei, popular pressure will ultimately prevail.
The scandal erupted last week when Milei promoted $LIBRA on his social media accounts. This cryptocurrency experienced a rapid surge in value, followed by a collapse within hours. The scam allegedly defrauded investors of at least US$150 million in just one hour.
So far, this incident has resulted in at least 112 criminal complaints against the Argentine president for fraud, illicit association, price manipulation, and financial crimes.
The $LIBRA scandal also involves Argentina’s Presidential Secretary Karina Milei, Presidential Spokesperson Manuel Adorni, advisor Mauricio Novelli, and businessmen Julian Peh and Hayden Davis.
On Monday, Venezuela’s Attorney General, Tarek William Saab, announced that his country’s legal system could be activated if Venezuelan citizens were affected by Milei’s scam.
“If there were any Venezuelan citizens who were misled by the Argentine president’s advice and suffered harm, the Venezuelan legal system can be activated in search of justice,” Saab declared.
“He is a global-scale thief, not just a simple pickpocket. He steals from retirees, violates human rights, and now scams thousands of people,” he added, recalling that Milei already faces an arrest warrant in Venezuela over the EMTRASUR plane, which was illegally seized in Argentina under his administration.
