Previously, he led the Syrian Salvation Government under the auspices of the terrorist organization Hayat Tahrir al-Sham.
On Monday, Al Jazeera and other local outlets such as Sawt al-Asima announced that Mohammed al-Bashir will serve as the prime minister of a transitional government in Syria.

This 41-year-old engineer previously headed the Syrian Salvation Government (SSG) in the Idlib province under the auspices of Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS), an organization classified as terrorist by the United Nations Security Council (UNSC).
According to Hadi al-Bahra, the leader of the Syrian National Coalition, the transitional government will last at least 18 months, with the first six months dedicated to drafting a new constitution and establishing a new state.
There is still no clear definition of whether this new state will adopt a presidential or parliamentary system, commented teleSUR’s correspondent in Türkiye, Yunus Soner, who also reported on incursions by Israeli infantry and paratroopers in Syria.
“These attacks will have serious repercussions for Palestinian refugees as well. Israeli aircraft bombed the Passport and Immigration Administration in Damascus, where temporary Palestinian refugees are registered,” he added, noting that the Israeli attacks destroyed all records of Palestinian refugees in Syria.
“It is unrealistic to think that there will be a Syrian state capable of exercising control and sovereignty over its entire territory. Instead, minorities should seek some form of autonomy, and the likely outcome would be a federal Syrian state,” said the Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Sa’ar.
These statements and the actions of the Israeli occupation forces appear aimed at fracturing Syria’s territorial unity. Syria has always been a unitary republic with a single parliament and no regional political representation authorities.
