The teleSUR’s correspondent in Quito, indicates that this figure confirms the historical trend that Ecuadorian voters generally go to the polls after lunchtime.

Meanwhile, the 16 candidates to head the country in the 2025 to 2029 mandate have already exercised their right to vote. The first to do so were re-election candidate Daniel Noboa and the left-wing Party Citizen Movement candidate Luisa Gonzalez.

Gonzalez stated that the “Ecuadorian people will prevail! We have walked here with the hope of better days,” at the time she urged citizens to monitor the election process to ensure that the people’s will is respected.

For his part, Noboa accompanied by his wife and son, the businessman seeking re-election casted his vote at a polling station located in Olon in the province of Santa Elena. According to official information, he will await the results of the vote in the afternoon in the capital city of Quito.

“They are the fear, we are the hope… We have the possibility of a great triumph and a great surprise today. It is time for the truth to overcome the lies that have oppressed us,” Gonzalez said.

During the first nationwide broadcast, the president of the CNE, Diana Atamaint, confirmed that all 40,791 polling stations are operational, with 86 percent staffed by principal members and 12 percent by alternates. She also stated that “every vote will be counted and respected.”
