On Wednesday, Interior Minister Diosdado Cabello announced that the Bolivarian National Police (PNB) had taken down Wilexis Acevedo, one of the most wanted criminals in Venezuela.

“During an operation on the Petare-Santa Lucia highway, the criminal Wilexis Alexander Acevedo Monasterio was killed in a confrontation while he was firing at an intelligence unit of our police forces,” Cabello stated, emphasized that Acevedo was one of the individuals who caused the most harm to the community of Petare, the most populous slum in the country.
“The murders, extortions, and terror acts that this man carried out against the residents of Sucre Municipality and all the inhabitants of Caracas are countless,” he said.
The Interior Minister underscored that Acevedo was supported by Colombian drug trafficking networks and had ties to Venezuelan far-right groups. This was evident in an audio recording in which the deceased criminal threatened several Bolivarian authorities.
“I’m coming for you. I’m coming for you, Nicolas Maduro. I’m coming for you, Reverol. I’m coming for you, Diosdado Cabello, and for all those who want to take the lead, gentlemen. Either you win, or we win. That’s why I call on all the comrades in the Caracas neighborhoods to organize ourselves and put an end to this immediately,” Wilexis said.
On Wednesday, the Interior Ministry also reported that the police had killed four individuals during an operation in Petare. “These four individuals were members of an organized crime group involved in homicides, kidnappings, extortion, and other crimes,” authorities said without clarifying whether these criminals were connected to Acevedo.
In February 2022, Venezuelan police killed Carlos Revette (aka El Koki), who was considered one of the main perpetrators of the July 2021 shootings that paralyzed life in Caracas for nearly 72 hours.
