A record number 65.3 million people were either refugees, asylum-seekers or internally displaced in 2015, affecting 1 in every 112 people on the planet, the U.N. High Commissioner for Refugees' Global Trends report said Monday as it marks International World Refugee Day.
Much of the exodus has been the result of fighting in Syria, Afghanistan, Burundi and South Sudan, bringing the total number of refugees in the world to 21.3 million, half of which are children.
