‘Once again, the U.S. has made a mistake, but we will defeat them again,’ legislator Rodriguez stated.

On Tuesday, Jorge Rodriguez, the president of the National Assembly, rejected U.S. bill HR 825, recently approved by the U.S. House of Representatives, which increases coercive measures against the Venezuelan people.

“Sanctions are crimes against humanity because they aim to exterminate economic freedom,” he said, emphasizing that the Bolivarian Revolution defends the interests of Venezuelans.

“This law persists in some of the most aggressive actions against Venezuela. Once again, the United States has made a mistake, but we will defeat them again,” Rodriguez stated, noting that U.S. economic restrictions will not hinder the construction of an economy that benefits all Venezuelans.

The HR 825 bill was introduced by Mike Waltz, a U.S. Representative and future National Security Advisor to President-elect Donald Trump. This bill imposes prohibitions on companies seeking to do business with Venezuela while simultaneously allowing the U.S. Department of State to establish exceptions to these prohibitions.

Rodriguez also pointed out that the HR 825 bill has been succinctly referred to as the “Bolivar Act,” which he described as an insult to Venezuela’s identity as a nation founded on the ideas of Liberator Simon Bolivar. “The monstrous bill aims to offend and harm our homeland by giving it Bolivar’s name,” he said.

In response to this affront, Venezuelan lawmakers will convene on November 26 to vote on “the Special Simon Bolivar Law,” which aims to combat the U.S. blockade, ensure Venezuelan independence, and defend the “dignity, history, and identity of the liberators of our America.”

“The National Assembly will proudly raise its hands to vote for this law. We will triumph with Bolivar forever and ever,” Rodriguez said after the unanimous approval of a motion rejecting and repudiating U.S. bill HR 825.
