Netanyahu claimed that there are significant gaps between Gallant and himself in the management of the military campaign in Gaza. He added that Gallant had made “statements and actions that contradict government decisions and Cabinet decisions.”

According to the Prime Minister’s Office statement, there were many attempts to close these gaps, “but they kept getting bigger and bigger. They also came to the knowledge of the public in an unacceptable manner, and worse, they came to the knowledge of the enemy.”

For his part, Yoav Gallant assured after being dismissed that his life’s mission has always been the security of Israel as he communicated in his account on the X social network.

The tweet reads, “Former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant acknowledges having been dismissed from his post for contradicting Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on three issues related to the war in Gaza.”

Israel Katz, who previously served as Minister of Foreign Affairs, was appointed as his replacement. Katz thanked the Israeli Prime Minister for his confidence in his appointment. He added that he would work to achieve the war’s objectives: “the return of all hostages as the most important mission; the destruction of Hamas in Gaza; the defeat of Hezbollah in Lebanon; the containment of Iranian aggression; and the safe return of residents of the north and south to their homes.”

Meanwhile, tens of thousands of people have taken to the streets in several Israeli cities in protest of such a decision.

Protests were called in the cities of Jerusalem, Tel Aviv, Haifa and Caesarea, where demonstrators have blocked intersections and highways.
