A total of 1,794 communal justices of the peace, including 897 principal judges and 897 alternate judges, formally assumed their duties during an emotional event at the Municipal Theater of Caracas, led by the mayor of the Libertador municipality, Carmen Meléndez.

This event was part of the commemoration of the 25th anniversary of the Constitution of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela.

During her address, Meléndez commended the commitment and hard work of the newly elected judges, who engaged in a brief yet impactful campaign that effectively rallied community support, turning the election into a genuine democratic festivity.

She was gratefull with the new judges of peaces and stated that they worked hard, in a short but very heartfelt campaign, and the results were remarcable.

The mayor highlighted the impressive voter turnout across the 289 communal circuits in Caracas, which is expected to enhance conflict resolution and foster better community relations.

The newly appointed judges will enter a training phase to familiarize themselves with their responsibilities, receiving guidance from institutions such as the Supreme Court of Justice and the Public Defender’s Office.

Meléndez also took a moment to express her gratitude to the citizens of Caracas for their active involvement on election day and acknowledged the leadership of the United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV) in this initiative.
