According to the authorities, no violent incidents were reported and the march happened peacefully.

Anti-police brutality activists marched on the streets of Oakland, California, on Monday, as Martin Luther King Jr. day celebrations kicked off. Around 1,000 demonstrators protested against police violence and U.S. President-elect Donald Trump's upcoming inauguration.

The protesters gathered at Lake Merritt before marching through the city. According to authorities, no violent incidents were reported and the march happened peacefully.

Similar events have taken place across the country. Martin Luther King Day festivities in Miami ended tragically after at least five people were killed during the celebrations.
