For both Democrats and Republicans the New York contest is delegate-heavy and could significantly determine who receives the nomination.

New York state polls have closed for both the Democratic and Republican primaries. Although recent polls showed Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders making up substantial ground on his Democratic rival Hillary Clinton, the former New York Senator has won by a large margin.
