Vinci leads Wozniacki 2-1 in head-to-head meetings, including beating the Dane when she was ranked number one in 2011 and also winning their only 2014 encounter.

The Danish tennis player Caroline Wozniacki advanced to the semifinals of the Istanbul Cup on Friday after being taken to three sets by eighth-seeded Karolina Pliskovaof the Czech Republic.

Wozniacki, ranked 15 in the world, seized on Kristina Mladenovic's weak second serve to win 6-2 6-3 and reach her first WTA final this season.

She will face second seed Roberta Vinci from Italy, who needed little over an hour to see off Croatian teenager Ana Konjuh 6-4 6-2.
