Chicharito scored on a beautiful 20-yard shot to give Bayer Leverkusen a 2-0 lead over Wolfsburg.

Mexican striker Javier "Chicharito" Hernandez scored his 15th Bundesliga goal, as Bayer Leverkusen brushed aside Wolfsburg 3-0 on Friday to move into the top four.

Chicharito started the match on the bench and came on just after the hour mark. However, he quickly scored making it 2-0 with an excellent curling strike in off the far post.

He later added an assist, deftly laying the ball off for fellow sub Vladen Yurchenko, who scored on a low, first-time blast to secure the result.

Leverkusen claimed a third straight win, all without conceding a goal, to improve their prospects of Champions League qualification, while the result may have ended Wolfsburg’s hopes of a top-four finish.

However, the victory was hardly ideal preparation for Wolfsburg ahead of their Champions League quarter-final, first leg against Real Madrid next Wednesday.

Bayer Leverkusen has undergone a tactical resurgence this season with the arrival of Chicharito who arrived after leaving Manchester United in the summer. The Mexican forward has flourished in his new club and is currently fourth in the scoring charts in Germany's top flight. He has been named Bundesliga player of the month twice and for one week, AP's Player of the World.
