Mexican drug lord Joaquin “El Chapo” Guzman is part of the huge list of politicians, personalities and businessmen involved in the corruption scandal Panama Papers.

The Panama Papers

Among the people in the list who have offshore accounts with Mossack Fonseca is the Guatemalan Marllory Chacon, better known as "The Queen of the South," who laundered money for El Chapo.

The documents have been revealed in the massive leak from the law firm which specializes in establishing shell companies.

According to Mexican media, the company, identified as Broadway Commerce Inc. was owned by Chacon who used it for criminal activity. The company was incorporated by Mossack Fonseca at the Public Registry of Panama in October 2008 and then sold.

Chacon turned herself into U.S. authorities last year. She operated from Guatemala, and supplied cocaine to cartels in Mexico, specifically Los Zetas and El Chapo’s Sinaloa Cartel. U.S. authorities have described her as one of the most prolific drug traffickers in Central America.
