Iranian President Hassan Rouhani Thursday said that Iran will not agree to a nuclear deal unless economic sanctions against it are lifted on the day of the signing.
Last week, the P5+1 group, consisting of the U.S., U.K., France, Russia, China plus Germany, arrived to a preliminary agreement with Iran that would limit its nuclear program in exchange for the lifting sanctions that have crippled Iran. All parties are attempting to reach the June 30 deadline for a finalized deal on the agreement.
Even though in the past President Barack Obama has said that sanctions would be eased in stages, Rouhani made it clear that on the issue of the lifting of economic sanctions, it was all or nothing.

In a ceremony for Iran's National Day of Nuclear Technology, Rouhani said, "We will not sign any deal unless on the very first day of its implementation all economic sanctions against Iran are lifted all at once."
He added, "Our goal in the talks (with major powers) is to preserve our nation's nuclear rights. We want an outcome that will be in everyone's benefit.”
The Iranian president also pointed out, “Our triumph is that the biggest military and economic power in the world, i.e the U.S. and the country’s president, acknowledged the fact that the Iranian nation will never yield to pressure, sanctions and bullying.”
While the P5+1 have expressed strong fears that Iran's nuclear program's aim is to build a nuclear weapon, Iran has insisted that its nuclear program is purely for peaceful purposes.
