The Uruguayan player has scored eight goals in his last two games, a feat that has placed him on the top of the Golden Boot award classification.

After two amazing rallies of four goals each as well as various assists, Barcelona's Uruguayan soccer star Luis Suarez comfortably stands alone at the peak of the classification for the European Golden Boot award, even ahead of Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi.

In his last two games, Suarez scored eight goals to sum up 34 this season in La Liga play, which also puts him as favorite to win a Pichichi, the La Liga's highest scorer award, EFE reported Monday.

Suarez is followed closely behind by Real Madrid's Ronaldo and Portuguese league player Jonas Gincalves., who has 31 this season.

And then there is Napoles Argentine player Gonzalo Higuain, who is in fourth place with 30 goals, while Polish Bundesliga player Robert Lewandowski has 27 goals that places him in fifth place.

Ronaldo is the current holder of the Pichichi and the European Golden Shoe but Suarez's four-goal haul against Sporting Gijon has left the Real Madrid forward playing catch-up this season, Sky News reported.

After starting off Saturday one goal behind Ronaldo's 31, Suarez ended the day with a three-goal lead.

Ronaldo may still strike back and defend his two individual titles, but question remains whether he can actually come through with just three La Liga games left until the end of the season.

This is EFE's table of players classified for the next Golden Boot award:

1. Luis Suarez (Uruguayan for Barcelona) 34 goals 68 points

2. Cristiano Ronaldo (Portuguese for Real Madrid) 31 goals 62 points

2. Jonas Goncalvez (Brazilian for Benfica) 31-62

4. Gonzalo Higuain (Argentine for Napoles) 30-60

5. Robert Lewandowski (Polish for Bayern Munich) 27-54

6. Lionel Messi (Argentine for Barcelona) 25-50
