“I wish Hitler were here alive and well today,” wrote one of the group's leaders.

The Southern Law Poverty Center (SLPC), which tracks hate groups within the United States, has declared the White Lives Matter movement a "hate group," according to news reports.

“The White Lives Matter website says their movement is dedicated to the preservation of the white race. That tells you all you need to know,” said Heidi Beirich, the director of the Intelligence Project at the Southern Poverty Law Center in Alabama, to the New York Times. “They’re against integration, immigration. This is standard white supremacist stuff.”

White Lives Matter, who emerged in opposition to the Black Lives Matter movement, also think intermarriage between people of color and white people is causing a “white genocide”, and they’ve been known to spew anti-Semitic hatred as well.

Last week, members of the group held a protest outside the Houston office of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People, or NAACP, demanding that it denounce Black Lives Matter. Many of the protesters carried assault rifles and Confederate flags.

Beirich told The New York Times the SLPC is focusing on a branch in Nashville led by Rebecca Barnette, who is also a member of the Aryan Strikeforce and the National Socialist Movement, which are bpth skinhead and neo-Nazi groups.

In other posts she argued that white women represent “the elite of the human species.”

Barnette frequently shares Nazi memes and uses racist, anti-Semitic and homophobic slurs, while also having argued in the past that white women represent “the elite of the human species”.

In response to the SLPC’s verdict, Barnette posted angry diatribes about being labelled as “domestic terrorists”, and writing “we do not live by the code of the nonwhites...Our forefathers built the nation that is being allowed to be destroyed,” and “I wish Hitler were here alive and well today” in her posts.

Members of White Lives Matter have also posted several videos criticizing the SPLC to its YouTube channel in the past two days. One of the videos describes the members as “just the guy next door.”
