Two people were detained on Saturday in connection to the murder of Argentine professional soccer player Rodrigo Espindola, who was shot and killed trying to protect his family during a botched robbery in a Buenos Aires suburb.

The pair were arrested in the early hours of the morning and described to the press as a 20-year-old nicknamed "Luquitas” and a 39-year-old man.
Espindola, who played for Nueva Chicago in the Argentine second division, was shot in the stomach while defending his wife and son in a robbery at his home in Montre Grande, Buenos Aires, on Friday night.
The shooting, along with the arrival and escape of the burglars by car, was caught on CCTV footage.
The disturbing video shows the burglars driving into his garage and then the 26-year-old Espindola looking into the garage with his son. The footballer then runs away, carrying his son, having clearly spotted the intruders, however a man comes out seconds later and shoots Mr Espindola, leaving him to die at at the scene.
As reported by Goal.com, Daniel Ferreiro, vice-present of Neuva Chicago, said: "Regret from the soul to inform that our Rodrigo Espindola died moments ago."
The defender began his career with Chacarita Juniors before joining Racing Club and then Chicago.
