Apparently, PSG has offered Ronaldo a weekly salary of US$750,000, but the Portuguese star striker reportedlyprefers to go back to the Red Devils.

eports have again surfaced that Portuguese star striker Cristiano Ronaldo will leave Real Madrid and likely head back to Manchester United rather than Paris Saint-Germain.

Ronaldo, one of the most expensive players in the world who rakes in about US$80 million dollars a year in salary, bonuses and endorsements, played for the Red Devil until 2009 when he was transferred to Real Madrid for a world record US$134 million.

The Portuguese forward has improved notably since moving to Madrid, Spain, and a just before Rafa Benitez took over as the Real Madrid head coach, he said he would end his career with Real Madrd, but all that changed and he has now repeatedly been suggesting this is his last season with Los Blancos.

Last week, after the 4-0 defeat to Barcelona, Ronaldo told his teammates in the dressing room that “either [Benitez] goes, or I go.”

Apparently, the Real Madrid president Florentino Perez heard of the Ronaldo's ultimatum and gave his vote of confidence to Benitez, edging Ronaldo closer to formalizing his exit.

Sources close to the 30-year-old have said that Ronaldo has expressed he prefers going to Manchester over a fresh start with the French champions PSG is said to prefer a return to the Premier League, a competition in which he scored 84 times during a six-year stay, and favours a return to Old Trafford over a fresh start at PSG.

Ronaldo bases his decision to go to Manchester because he believes that despite the Paris club are offering him about US$750,000 a week, playing for Ligue 1 will do too little for his reputation due to the lack of competition.

The Real Madrid forward a few titles under his belt, including La Liga, the Copa del Rey, the Champions League and become Real Madrid's record scorer. However, he is still subjected to jeers and booing from the club's spoilt supporters.

He is also the La Liga' third all time scorer with 234 goals along with retired Mexican forward Hugo Sanchez. Ronaldo has now zeroed in on surpassing number two top scorer, deceased soccer legend Zarra of the 1940s and 1950s who retired with 250 goals.

So it seems Ronald is set to return to Manchester United after seven years in Madrid, and the Red Devils actually do need to strengthen their attack as well as well as their commercial arm. Both those objectives would be fulfilled with Ronaldo.

On Sunday, Real Madrid faced off against Eibar and tied Sanchez with 234 goals, but since he reached the figure in 134 fewer games, Ronaldo moves up to third.

Lionel Messi is the La Liga’s all time highest scorer in history with 290 goals for Barcelona.
